Sore Throat Soother Tea 

When your throat needs something more than hot water with honey — though we'd recommend adding the honey too.

This blend was built around two of the most remarkable soothing herbs in the Western botanical tradition, both chosen specifically for the quality they bring that no other herbs quite replicate. Marshmallow root — not the confection, but the plant it was originally made from — produces a rich, mucilaginous quality when brewed that quite literally coats and soothes irritated tissues from the inside, creating a velvety, almost silky quality in the cup that you can feel working as you swallow. Licorice root brings its own deeply soothing, coating properties alongside a natural sweetness that makes this one of the most pleasant medicinal teas in the entire collection to drink even when you're feeling your worst.

Wild cherry bark is the ingredient most customers won't recognise but herbalists reach for instinctively — with a long traditional history of use in North American herbalism for throat and respiratory comfort, it adds a gentle, slightly fruity depth that is as pleasant as it is purposeful. Rose hip contributes vitamin C richness and a bright tartness that cuts through the sweetness. Cinnamon and ginger bring warming, invigorating spice that makes cold and illness feel a little more bearable. And fennel rounds everything out with its gentle, naturally sweet, subtly anise-like finish.

Best enjoyed: Brewed for 12-15 minutes to draw out the full mucilaginous quality of the marshmallow root — the longer it steeps the more velvety the cup becomes. A generous spoonful of raw honey is not optional. Sip slowly and let each mouthful do its work before swallowing. Drink as many cups as feels good throughout the day.
